Tips to help thicken fine hair
If you have fine hair, you most probably wonder, what can I do to thicken fine hair? Well there is no magic potion, but some knowledge in your tool kit, will certainly help you to manage your fine hair.
1. Hair cut (well the right one anyway)
Blunt cuts are great for those with fine hair. Adding too many layers can make your hair sit flat on your head and appearing thinner than it has to. If your hair is curly, some slight layering would help (depending on how curly or fine your hair is). Any hair cut that brings the eye to a focal point, where the blunt cut finishes, will create the illusion of more hair.
I believe when it comes to colour, you have to know what suits not only your skin tone, but your hair type too. Fine hair can benefit from colour, if it’s applied in the right areas, using the right shade, with the right technique. For someone with very fine hair and not a lot of it, a darker colour can create the illusion of thicker, more hair.
3. Shampoo & Conditioners & treatments
Using the right shampoo and conditioner for your hair makes a difference to the overall feeling and strength of your hair. Some conditioners can weigh your hair down, feeling like it is stuck to your head. You want volume, not flatness.
Treatments build and repair the hair shaft, so consider a protein and or moisture treatment into your hair regime.
4. Styling Products
Choose your styling products carefully. Try samples first if you are unsure and ask what the product does. Some products whilst promise volume, can be oily and weigh your hair down.
5. Blow dry & brushes
Yes, blow drying your hair with the right brush can instantly create the illusion of thicker hair.
Choose a brush that is 100% boar bristle. These brushes are fantastic for ensuring every single strand of hair passes through the brush, so each hair strand is smooth and dried properly, whilst imparting shine onto the hair. A smooth polished blow dry adds instant thickness to fine hair.
